The Europa League field is wider, so the gap between the strongest and weakest teams is often larger, which means clean sheets and lopsided scorelines are more predictable than in the Champions League.
That makes defenders and goalkeepers from dominant domestic champions especially valuable, as they are used to controlling games. Midfielders who take set pieces and forwards on teams that score in bunches are the reliable point sources. Because the tournament now runs a single league phase before the knockouts, later matchdays can pair strong sides against each other, so check the fixtures before loading up.
