FPL Value Players: How to Find Points Per Million Bargains

Price changes, press conference clues and underlying numbers: the edges that build squad value in Fantasy Premier League.

Published September 10, 2026

Finding value in Fantasy Premier League means looking past the big names to players who return points per million spent. The engine of a good squad is cheap defenders and midfielders who are nailed-on starters with attacking roles. An attacking fullback on a top-six team who takes corners offers assists and clean-sheet points at a mid price.

Price changes create edges. FPL prices rise and fall with transfers in and out, so buying a player before a rise locks in value, and selling before a fall protects your team value. The best managers watch press conferences and pre-season minutes for clues about starting roles, because a cheap starter outperforms an expensive rotation player.

Focus on underlying numbers rather than goals alone: shots, shots on target and expected goal involvement are more stable than finishing. A midfielder who takes penalties is a steady points source. Build a balanced squad, avoid two premium forwards in the same team, and keep one or two cheap bench players who actually play, so you can field eleven every week. Track prices and scores at /epl.
